The Dune Tramp first visited Eastham, Cape Cod, as a fifth-grader, in 1966, and vacationed there often, buying Beach Rose Cottage in 1998. He quickly became a Cape Cod historian, collector and photojournalist. After his first stay in one of the isolated, primitive shacks in the Province Lands dunes, he became immersed in the "dune culture", adopting his sobriquet in honor of his bohemian hero, Provincetown poet Harry Kemp. An active preservationist, he is on the Board of Directors of the Henry Beston Society and a long-time member of the Nauset Light Preservation Society. He presents engaging slideshow/lectures across Cape Cod and hosts a radio program on WOMR, out of Provincetown.
